Peanut Butter Sheet Cake–Celebrate 30

There are some things that just scream “American”. Mac and cheese, apple pie…and peanut butter are a few of these. When I was a child growing up in Wales, my mom would always make my lunch for me to take to school. What did any normal American mom make for lunch in the 80’s?

The quintessential PB&J.

Now this was a perfectly acceptable lunch in the eyes of American kids, but to British kids – this was akin to eating bug guts and monkey brains. Let’s just say that peanut butter had not gone mainstream in Wales at that time.  While I may have been mercilessly poked fun at, and secretly wished to be eating the marmite sandwiches that everyone else was eating (gross by the way), I never lost my secret love for peanut butter.

Flash forward 20-some years, and this cake fulfills all my peanut-buttery dreams. The month of June is a big month for me. I will be turning 30 (gasp!), and it is my 1 year Bloggiversary on the 30th. So in a Sesame Street-esque way, I will be celebrating the number 30 the whole month.  I will be picking 30 of my most popular recipes during the last year to showcase, along with a few new ones. Let’s start with this Peanut Butter Sheet cake that I made last July 4th!

You can grab the recipe in my original post for this Peanut Butter Sheet Cake.

You grew up in Wales? Cool! I went to university in Wales. Yup, we're not as big on Peanut butter here in the UK though I'm now a HUGE fan! However I remember my first memories of PB&J sandwiches weren't happy ones ;p

I hate marmite too! It's a fact, you either love it or hate it - there's no in between!

Well, as a non American I am not fond on peanut butter. For sure I cannot stand too much of it. But I have to admit that this is the first, really first, peanut butter cake I see that REALLY entices me. I will have to make it for hubby (and myself).

Happy birthday and blogoversary.

PB&J sandwiches have never appealed to me, but when you throw in some sugar, I'm all for a peanut butter treat. This cake looks so moist and perfect...beautiful~

Anything peanut butter is tempting, but peanut butter desserts have such a sweet place in my heart :) This cake looks fantastic!

Happy Dirty Thirty!!! It's not that bad... I'm in my 3rd year of it, and having a blast. :)

I couldn't understand the PB thing, either :/ ... when we came to the States I thought that PB was the yuckiest thing ever. Then I went to college. Everything changed. :) Now I love PB!

Wow! I can't fathom being made fun of for peanut butter. I hope that it is in every lunch box in Wales by now because they don't know what they are missing!
